ISEQ up almost 2%

The ISEQ index of Irish shares rebounded 41.57 points to 2,471.51 today.

Bank of Ireland, Allied Irish Banks and Irish Life and Permanent were all unchanged on 9c, 5c and 3c respectively.

The construction sector enjoyed some encouraging gains, with CRH leading the way, rising 35c to 11.74. Kingspan rose 20c to €6.

Paddy Power enjoyed the biggest gain of the day, surging €2 to 35.50.

DCC (up 35c to 17.95), Elan (up 14c to 6.83) and Tullow Oil (up 11c to 11.31) all did well.

The only losses of any note came in the food and drink sector, with Glanbia (down 8c to 4.10) and Kerry Group (down 5c to 26.73) both inching down.
