Guinness firm Diageo has reported a 3% rise in net sales for the three months to March 31, as emerging markets growth offset weaker trade in Ireland, Greece and Spain.

Guinness firm Diageo has reported a 3% rise in net sales for the three months to March 31, as emerging markets growth offset weaker trade in Ireland, Greece and Spain.

Its profits for the period suffered a £54m (€60.6m) hit however in connection with ongoing excise tax disputes in Turkey and Thailand.
