New BT fundraising service guarantees 100% of donation to charity
Telecoms giant BT today launched a new online fundraising service in the UK, guaranteeing that 100% of donations will go direct to the charity.
The firm said the MyDonate initiative was the first not-for-profit fundraising service not to charge a subscription, set-up fee or commission.
Ian Livingston, chief executive of BT, said: “We’ve launched MyDonate as we want to ensure that 100% of people’s fantastic fundraising efforts, and donations, go to the charity of their choice.
“BT already has a proud history of helping communities with charitable events, such as the recent Comic Relief telethon, and we’re delighted we can now take this knowledge and technological expertise to help charities become more effective in the vital work they do.”
Andrew Flanagan, chief executive of the NSPCC, said: “We are grateful for BT’s continued commitment and support for ChildLine since its inception in 1986 and are delighted to have been involved in the development of MyDonate.
“It provides an easy and accessible way for people to raise more funds for us without any of the online donations going on administration charges, which is great news for all UK charities who will be able to significantly increase their donation levels. I believe this will help encourage more people to not only give online, but give more in the long term.”
