Survey shows Ireland among most affordable for hotel prices

A survey of hotel prices in 44 countries has shown that Ireland is now one of the most affordable tourist destinations.

The price index from Hotels.com ranks Ireland in sixth place, and shows Ireland has the cheapest hotels in western Europe.

The national average room rate is now €79 a night, that is down 4% on a similar survey two years ago.

Typical Dublin prices were even lower, at €73.

The survey shows Kilkenny is still the most expensive place to stay in Ireland, and the cheapest is Waterford.
