Employers' group IBEC today gave what it described as a "measured welcome" to the Programme for Government agreed by Fine Gael and Labour at the weekend but warned against any move to reverse the minimum wage reduction.

The group welcomed the firm commitment to support job creation and tackle the budget deficit in line with the IMF/EU programme, but said any move to restore the minimum wage or introduce collective bargaining rights was at odds with the economic needs of the country.
