Retail Ireland is calling on the incoming Government to introduce legislation which will address unsustainable commercial rents.

It is one of the priorities which will be set out by retailers today for election 2011.

Retail Ireland, the IBEC group that represents the retail sector, is also calling on the new government to take action on labour costs and commercial rates, as well as improve access to credit.

Retail Ireland Director Torlach Denihan said the key challenge facing the next government is to restore consumer confidence and boost spending in the economy.
