December retail sales down 2.5%

New figures from the Central Statistics Office showed that retail sales fell sharply in December as the impact of the adverse weather conditions took their toll.

Excluding motor sales which were artifically boosted by the scrappage deal, the volume of retail sales was down 2.5% in December compared to November.
