UK supermarket chain reports sales growth

British supermarket Waitrose reported a 4.4% increase in like-for-like sales, excluding petrol, in the three months to October 30.

Its most recent weekly figures – for the week ending November 6 – were up by 9.8%, driven by bonfire night sales and a wine and champagne promotion.
