The European Commission has today formally approved the transfer of the first group of loans from Irish banks to the National Asset Management Agency (Nama).

The European Commission has today formally approved the transfer of the first group of loans from Irish banks to the National Asset Management Agency (Nama).

Loans that were valued on the banks' books at €16bn were bought by Nama for €8.5bn, a discount of 47%.
