The London market failed to take heart from far better-than-expected UK growth figures today as uncertainty over the impending bank stress test results weighed on stocks.

Official gross domestic product (GDP) estimates revealed the economy soared by 1.1% in the second quarter – well above the 0.6% forecast by most economists.
