11890 signs multi-million euro deal with UPC

Call 11890 Ltd, the Irish Directory enquiries company, has today signed a multi-million euro contract with UPC Business.

Call 11890 Ltd, the Irish Directory enquiries company, has today signed a multi-million euro contract with UPC Business.

The contract comprises of UPC Business hosting all of Call 11890 Ltd services including providing bandwidth for internet and data traffic and trafficking all 11890 directory enquiry calls across the UPC network.

As part of today’s agreement Call 11890 Ltd has also located its new headquarters at UPC Business Eastpoint Business Park facility.

Nicola Byrne, Managing Director, Call 11890 Ltd said: "The telecommunications solution provided by UPC has enabled us to enhance both our day-to-day service and crucially provides us the flexibility to grow our service locally here in Ireland.

Gavan Smyth, Business Services Director of UPC Business, said: "The tailored service we have created for 11890 is a cost-effective alternative and provides high bandwidths to cater for large amounts of traffic across our voice and data networks.

"Furthermore UPC has built a fibre rich infrastructure in dense city areas where 11890 operates and as we have a national presence, we are ideally positioned to support and meet the increasing needs of 11890 as it grows it business."

Call 11890 Ltd employs 90 staff across its call centres in Dublin and Galway and pledged twelve months ago to create 2.5 new jobs for every additional 1,000 calls it received.

However a combination of market contraction and reduced consumer expenditure has seen 11890 add 10 jobs during the intervening period.
