US unemployment numbers building stock market optimism

Optimism is building on global stock markets that key US unemployment figures to be released today will show up to half a million workers were re-hired in the world's largest economy over the past month.

Stock markets on both sides of the Atlantic finished higher yesterday on growing evidence the US economy is back on its feet.
