The ISEQ index of Irish shares was down 0.57% in early trading, shedding 16.45 points to 2,871.40 by 11.45am.
Banking shares were among those on a downward trend, with AIB dropping 8c to €1.00, Bank of Ireland down 4c to €0.74 and Irish Life & Permanent 12c off at €2.03.
