McDonald's reports profits rise

McDonald's today reported better-than-expected first quarter profits as it said the UK and Europe had been one of its best performing regions.

The fast food giant, which has around 1,200 outlets across the UK, reported a 3% rise in group-wide earnings to $1.09bn (€813.5m) in the first three months of 2010.
