Eircom launch broadband upgrade
A high-speed broadband service is being launched by Eircom this morning to improve services for up to a million customers this year.
The Next Generation Broadband will move from one megabyte to eight megabytes for all customers in NGB 'exchange areas'.
Existing broadband customers will be able to get a free upgrade.
The NGB service is being launched in Dublin but will be rolled out to Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford by the end of the year.
Improved broadband is seen as critical to enable Ireland's objectives as a smart economy.
