Fall for ISEQ
The ISEQ index of Irish shares finished 18.69 points down at 3,103.99 by close of business today.
The financials all suffered. Irish Life and Permanent endured the biggest loss, falling 15c to €3.10. Allied Irish Banks (down 6c to €1.53) and Bank of Ireland (down 3c to €1.30) also fared badly.
There was some heavy losses elsewhere. Smurfit Kappa lost 40c to €5.67. Kerry Group was down 30c to €23.25.
DCC and FBD both fell 20c to finish on €19.34 and €6.81 respectively. Irish Continental Group was 10c worse off, down 10c to €15.35.
In the construction sector, Kingspan fell 28c to €6. CRH fared little better, slipping 17c to €18.58.
There was some goof news elsewhere, however. Some unlikely results at Cheltenham saw bookmaker Paddy Power surge €1.15 to €24.80, and Dragon Oil enjoyed a 28c rise to €5.42.
