Total Produce buys UK exotic fresh produce business

Fyffes spin-off Total Produce has acquired the assets and trade of exotic fresh produce business Utopia UK from the administrator.

Based in Spalding, England, Utopia has a range of some 60 exotic products from almost 40 countries and has had sales in excess of £25m (€27.5m).

The newly acquired business will be named Total Exotics.

"This acquisition will provide the opportunity to further increase the Total Produce business and complement its existing activities in this specialist area" the company said in a statement.

Total Produce comprises the general produce and distribution business which was demerged from Fyffes on December 30, 2006.
