No escape from recession for UK

Hopes that official figures today would show that the UK is officially out of recession were dashed today.

The UK economy showed a smaller decline of 0.3% between July and September than the 0.4% first estimated, the Office for National Statistics said today - but it still represents a sixth successive quarter of recession.
