Good gains on global markets failed to set the Irish exchange alight this morning as the ISEQ index of Irish shares was marginally down at lunchtime.

The ISEQ fell 1.62 points to 3,180.15 by 1.45pm, with major fallers including Elan Corp, down 37c to €3.93; FBD, dropping 30c to €6.90, and Tullow Oil retreating 13c from yesterday's high to €13.87.
