A consultation process is due to get underway at Intel following the company's announcement yesterday that it is seeking almost 300 compulsory redundancies.

The US computer chip manufacturer said it plans to lay off 294 employees at its complex in Leixlip, Co Kildare, due to declining demand for products produced at its Fab-14 facility.
