New Zealand’s recession may end by the December quarter but unemployment will continue rising into 2010, peaking just below 8%, a survey of businesses said.

New Zealand’s recession may end by the December quarter but unemployment will continue rising into 2010, peaking just below 8%, a survey of businesses said.

The survey by the independently-funded New Zealand Institute of Economic Research says the economy will have contracted in the June quarter and predicts that it will shrink again in the September quarter in a recession that began in the first quarter of 2008.
