Supermarket giant Sainsbury's today said hard-pressed shoppers looking for cheaper deals had helped it post healthy fourth-quarter sales.

Its 'Switch and Save' campaign in January had driven a 60% year-on-year rise in sales of its cheaper 'basics' range, the firm said.
