There were contrasting fortunes for companies on the Irish Stock Exchange today, as the ISEQ index inched up 18.42 points to 2,052.86.

It was another negative day for the financials. Bank of Ireland, which announced Richie Boucher as its new group chief executive, was unchanged at 28c. However, Irish Life and Permanent (down 5c to 65c) and Allied Irish Banks (down 2c to 50c) both lost ground.
