Retailers reject NCA finding on price differentials
One of the body's representing retailers in Ireland has denied that shoppers in Ireland are being charged 50% more for some items compared to consumers in the North.
A survey by the National Consumer Agency has found that average prices for non-grocery items like clothing and electronic goods are 51% more expensive south of the border.
However, the chief executive of Retail Excellence Ireland told the Oireachtas Enterprise Committee today that this was incorrect.
He claimed the NCA had failed to take account of the euro-Sterling exchange rate when compiling the figure.
