Day of heavy losses on ISEQ

The ISEQ index of Irish shares lost over 5% of its value today, closing at 2,495.55, a drop of 144.31 points.

All of the major banks took hits. Irish Life & Permanent was the biggest faller, down 39c to €2.18, AIB was down 24c to €2.02 and Anglo Irish Bank and Bank of Ireland were down 10c and 9c, to 23c and 86c respectively.
