The European Central Bank is expected to cut interest rates when its governing council meets later today in Brussels following European Commission warnings that the eurozone is facing its first recession.

The European Central Bank is expected to cut interest rates when its governing council meets later today in Brussels following European Commission warnings that the eurozone is facing its first recession.

Most experts are predicting that the bank will cut rates by half of one percentage point for the third time in the space of three months. This would see the key interest rate at 2.5%.
