Banks set to announce measures to help small firms

A number of banks are expected to announce measures in the coming days to help small and medium businesses gain access to cash.

The Irish Banking Federation says it is in intensive discussions on how banks can help companies survive the recession.

Yesterday, Bank of Ireland announced that it was setting up a special €250m fund to provide loans to small businesses.
