Golden Spiders shortlist announced

The 2008 eircom Golden Spider Awards shortlist for internet sites was announced today. This year saw a record number of entries with a 20% increase on last year’s nominations.

A full short-list is available on the Golden Spiders website www.goldenspiders.ie.

This year, members of the general public will be given an opportunity to vote for their favourite social networking and community site.

Members of the public were given an opportunity earlier this month to nominate their favourite sites. From the list of nominations, the judges have announced the following shortlist:

www.pix.ie

Of the sites above, www.nimble.ie is currently showing an 'under construction' message. A spokesman for the awards said the site was live until a few days ago so is a valid entry and would remain on the list.

The public can now vote for the overall winner, who will be announced at the eircom Golden Spider Awards ceremony on November 20. Votes can be cast on www.goldenspiders.ie.
