ISME, the Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association, has called on the Government to impose an immediate freeze on all bank charges for a two-year period to ensure that the banks do not take advantage of their existing customers to fund the cost of the State sponsored guarantee scheme.

ISME, the Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association, has called on the Government to impose an immediate freeze on all bank charges for a two-year period to ensure that the banks do not take advantage of their existing customers to fund the cost of the State sponsored guarantee scheme.

ISME Chief Executive, Mark Fielding, said: “The Banks have for years been taking advantage of their small business clients by gorging on excessive bank charges to enhance their profit margins.
