Fashion chain Next braced for tough times

Fashion chain Next warned today there was no end in sight for the high street's trading woes after reporting a 12% drop in half-year profits.

The group said it was budgeting for autumn and winter sales to be down by between 4% and 7%, while it said the economic situation meant it must prepare for another tough year in the 2009/10 trading period.
