Business park to create 300 building jobs in Drogheda
A new business park near Drogheda will create 300 construction jobs, it was claimed today.
The €150m Boyne Bridge Business Park is designed to accommodate dozens of firms providing a potential of 1,350 multi-sector jobs within five years.
The 40-acre development, close to the Boyne Bridge on the M1, will comprise 800,000 square feet of offices, starter units and warehousing.
Local TD and Government Minister Dermot Ahern said the project, represents a major infrastructural investment for the North East region.
Two-thirds of the campus will accommodate office-based employment with the remainder focused on warehousing and logistics operations and light industrial enterprises.
Economic consultants have estimated that the project will also support up to 670 indirect jobs in the surrounding area.
The developers, PA Bello said the park is located on one of the best-connected sites in the North East with quick access to Irish and international markets with road, rail, sea and air transport links all within easy reach.
Managing Director Kevin McNulty said: “Locating here offers excellent accessibility and substantial cost savings on a company’s overheads.”
Mr Ahern added: “It is very encouraging to witness new business having the courage and foresight to recognise Ireland as a viable and commercially attractive location for business.”
Drogheda is currently the 10th largest town in Ireland and one of the fastest growing.
Some 7,000 new homes have been approved adjacent to the Business Park site.
