Finance ministers warn Britain over deficit

European Union finance ministers today warned Britain its deficit will break through an EU limit this financial year.

The UK is not part of the 15-nation eurozone so is not strictly bound to keep the yearly deficit underneath the EU ceiling of 3% of gross domestic product (GDP) – but can be criticised by other European nations for bad management of the economy.
