The owner of the JD Sports chain today said it had bucked tough high street conditions to deliver improved sales in recent trading.

John David Group – which posted like-for-like sales growth of 4.2% in the 10 weeks to April 12 – said sales of fashion and sports goods had “marginally improved” in the seven weeks to May 31.
