The ISEQ index of Irish shares rallied to close this evening, up 157.76 points to 6114.31 by 6.30pm.
The financial heavyweights followed the positive trend with both AIB and Anglo Irish Bank up 23c to €13 and €8.12 consecutively. Irish Life and Permanent gained a modest 5c to €11.30.
