The ISEQ index of Irish shares ended the day in negative territory falling 109.37 points to 5989.28.
All the financial heavyweights suffered a loss with Anglo Irish Bank leading the way, plummeting 35c to €7.73. Irish Life and Permanent dropped 27c off its share price and AIB fell 22c to €12.95.
