Mixed news for Longford on jobs front
Longford town has received mixed news on the jobs front today.
The town's Cameron plant, which manufactures components used in oil and gas exploration, has announced plans to hire an extra 130 workers over the coming years as part of a €15m investment.
However, 66 people employed at Kimball Electronics will lose their jobs over the coming months as the company closes its operation.
The closure follows the failure of a proposal to re-direct the business to automotive electronics manufacturing two years ago.
Production at the facility is being transferred to the Kimball operations in Poland.
