Energy projects and tensions over Kosovo are expected to top the agenda for German chancellor Angela Merkel’s trip to Russia – the first visit by a foreign leader since the nation’s presidential election.

Ms Merkel will hold talks with President Vladimir Putin at his countryside residence and then meet Dmitry Medvedev, the president-elect who won more than 70% of the vote.
