CEMEX Ireland has awarded the electricity supply rights for 48 sites across the island of Ireland to electricity provider Energia, in a three-year deal worth over €1.7m.

CEMEX Ireland has awarded the electricity supply rights for 48 sites across the island of Ireland to electricity provider Energia, in a three-year deal worth over €1.7m.

The all-island deal moves CEMEX closer to its commitment towards the use of green energy and represents an annual reduction of over 9,000 tonnes of C02 per annum.

This is the equivalent of taking 2,100 average sized cars off the road each year; in addition, the deal with Energia will offer CEMEX a reduction of up to 10% in its electricity bill.

Energia’s 747MW gas-fired power station in North Dublin and their network of wind farms throughout Ireland will be among the facilities supplying the 10.5GWh of electricity.
