Children are under threat from stealth marketing on the internet, a report out today in the UK will warn.
The National Consumer Council and Childnet International’s joint report looks at commercial activity on youngsters’ favourite websites.
They say children are at risk from hidden persuasion techniques used on some sites.
Poorly enforced data protection rules and so-called free offers found online are also criticised.
The 'Fair Game?' report also found a large volume of advertising for adult-only services such as gambling and dating being regularly accessed by children.
