The managing director of the McDonald’s restaurant chain in Hong Kong has been charged with taking bribes from a corn supplier, the territory’s anti-corruption body said.

The managing director of the McDonald’s restaurant chain in Hong Kong has been charged with taking bribes from a corn supplier, the territory’s anti-corruption body said.

Lau Si-sing (aged 47), will appear in court to hear the charges, two counts of accepting bribes and one count of trying to pervert the course of justice, the Independent Commission Against Corruption said.

Between May 2005 and April 2007, Lau allegedly conspired with the director of a corn supplier, receiving payments in return for recommending, approving and placing orders with the company for the 200-plus McDonald’s restaurants in Hong Kong, the commission said.
