Engineering firm IMI today shrugged off an investigation into “possible irregular payments” involving its commission agents as it posted an 8% profits rise.

The Birmingham-based firm revealed in August that it had called in forensic accountants to probe payments by its third-party agents in Asia and the Middle East, which it said “may be in breach of the law”.
