Mandelson backs foreign state-backed investors

Europe’s trade commissioner Peter Mandelson gave his support to foreign state-backed investors in European businesses and warned: “Investments should not be exposed to the whims of political prejudice.”

Mr Mandelson said the key issue was whether and investment was commercial or political: “The investment (by China) in Barclays is by all accounts commercial.
