ISEQ starts off day in positive mood

The ISEQ stood at 9,651 at 11.15am, a rise of 54.74 points.

The largest increase this morning came from Tullow Oil after a 68c rise to €7.30, while building materials group CRH had a 47c increase to €36.96 and building firm Kingspan raised its price by 40c to €20.90.

The banking sector reflected the positive mood with AIB up 16c to €21.81, Bank of Ireland up 11c to €16.06 and Irish Life and Permanent up 10c to €19.30. Anglo Irish Bank had a modest three cent increase to €16.03.

Elsewhere, business services firm DCC saw its stock climb 35c to €24.90 while food giants Kerry Group went up 23c to €20.63.

However, pharmaceutical giant Elan took some of the gloss off this morning's results as they fell 22c to €15.93 while Paddy Power slipped 31c to €22.79.
