Pfizer sued for €5.16bn over 'lethal' trials

The Nigerian government filed a lawsuit against drugs giant Pfizer asking for €5.16bn in damages over allegations the firm conducted trials that led to deaths and disabilities among children.

The civil case filed in the capital, Abuja, is separate from a legal challenge launched in the northern state of Kano that seeks €1.47bn from Pfizer, although all the cases stem from the same mid-1990s drug study.
