Small decline for ISEQ
Today saw a slight decline in the value of Irish shares, with the ISEQ index down 34.73 points to 9340.57.
The financials have had better days, with Allied Irish Bank sliding 63c to €21.57. Elsewhere in the sector, Anglo Irish Bank (down 8c to €15.92) and Bank of Ireland (down 15c to €16) both losing ground. Irish Life & Permanent was unchanged at €20.55.
There were some significant gains today however, with Elan, IAWS and UTV jumping 30c to €9.90, €17.10 and €3.10 respectively.
Paddy Power was the biggest mover of the day, soaring 79c to €20.60. Kerry Group climbed 10c to €20.90.
Elsewhere, there were setbacks for Irish Continental (down 27c to €19.53), DCC (down 12c to €26.24), and McInerney Holdings (down 15c to €15.50).
In the air travel sector, Ryanair finished 6c higher to close at €5.89, with Aer Lingus closing 5c stronger at €3.10.
