UK energy giant unveils £1.4bn profit

British Gas owner Centrica reported profits of £1.44 bn (€2.14bn) for 2006 today.

The figure, which was down 5% on the previous year, included profits of £95m (€141.4m) from the company’s residential energy arm after the division made a loss in the first half of the year.
