Wetherspoon cheered by Christmas sales

British pubs group JD Wetherspoon today said it saw a strong performance over the Christmas period as rising sales helped offset higher costs.

The group, which operates from more than 650 sites, said like-for-like sales rose by 5.5% during the 12 weeks to January 21.
