SIPTU serves strike notice on Dunnes supplier

SIPTU has served strike notice on one of the main companies supplying goods to Dunnes Stores.

The union says 460 workers are facing an uncertain future due to the ending of the supply deal between Dunnes and Whelan's next month.

It says management has assured workers at Whelan's that it will clarify the company's future, but no such clarification has been forthcoming.

The workers are now threatening to begin strike action at midnight on Thursday.
