Marks & Spencer unveiled plans today to plug its £704m (€1.1bn) pension scheme deficit while keeping the final salary scheme open to existing members.

As part of the proposals, M&S has agreed to contribute £500m (€763.8m) into the scheme through the release of its properties to a newly-established partnership with the pension scheme.
