FTSE survives energy-sector drop

Oil giant BP was punished by investors today after lacklustre fourth-quarter production figures added to its recent woes.

BP was down almost 3% at mid-morning, extending losses seen since the summer and pulling the whole energy sector down by more than 1% today.
